CLASS FAQ:
WHAT WILL I BE DOING IN A MAKAY SWEETS CLASS? While having a the most fun ever, you will be decorating themed cookies and learning decorating techniques. DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO BAKE? Nope! All of your cookies will be pre-baked. However, if you are interested in an awesome sugar cookie recipe and want to bake more cookies at home, (for all adult classes) you will receive the class PowerPoint by email that includes a recipe for cookies and for royal icing. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? Not a thing! Everything will be provided for you, including all materials and delicious cookies and icing. All you need to do is join us and have fun! CAN I PURCHASE AN ADDITIONAL TAKE-HOME KIT? You bet! For most classes and some events, many parents or practicing cookiers like to purchase a $20 kit so that they can re-do the class or cookie decorating activity in the comfort of their own home, and while decorating at their own pace. Limited kits are typically available to purchase separately after signing up, or extras may be available at the end of classes or events.​ WHAT AGE IS BEST FOR CLASSES? For the skills and techniques that will be used in the adult Public Classes I have found that kiddos over the age of 12 are more successful at keeping up with each step and are able to complete the cookie set in the timeframes available. However, there are also many kid friendly and family Public Classes that will be available throughout the year where all ages are welcome to join in on the cookie decorating fun! ​ WHAT WILL I BRING HOME? Besides new skills and memories, by the end of your class or event, you will have made beautiful cookies ready to dry for 24-48 hours on their own tray. Plus, decorated cookies by Makay Sweets are always included in the ticket prices, and raffle prizes are a common occurrence as well! ​ CAN I SIGN UP AS AN INDIVIDUAL OR AS A GROUP? Either-or is totally fine! Individuals come to classes all the time and its always a pleasure to have groups take the class as well. The more the merrier! Keep in mind though, most classes will have limited seats, so definitely sign up ASAP, especially if you are coming as a group!
